Western Union and MTN launch mobile banking service in Ivory Coast and Rwanda

Users can send money abroad via mobile phone.

A new mobile money transfer service has been launched in Rwanda and Ivory Coast by Western Union Company and MTN Group.

MTN's mobile money customers can now deposits funds sent through Western Union's system on their account.

Furthermore, they are able to send money overseas using their mobile phone.

People who send money may choose to do so from Western Union (or a partner agency) or a digital channel of Western Union.

The money received on the mobile account of Ivorian and MTN Rwanda customers can be used to pay bills, transfer money from one person to another or to purchase talk time.

The announcement comes just weeks after MTN Rwanda announced a partnership with Bank of Kigali to improve access to mobile financial services in the country.

Customers of both companies can now transfer money between their MTN mobile wallets and Bank of Kigali accounts, and vice versaADNFCR-2976-ID-801793906-ADNFCR
