Capital market operators in Nigeria and Ghana are enthusiastic over efforts to integrate West African capital markets, saying it will bring a number of benefits to stakeholders.

A workshop was recently organised by the West Africa Capital Market Integration Council (WACMIC) where Mr Idowu Ogedengbe, Executive Director of Dunn Loren Merrifield Securities, pointed out investors will be able to gain a lot from diversification.

"As an investor, you
could trade across the various countries across the West Africa region. And that to me, gives the
average investor a wider opportunity to gain better returns on his investments," Mr Ogedengbe said.

According to another broker, Atiku Kafaru, of Express Discount Management,
the integration will also deepen the market, and provide people the “opportunity of tasting what is available in other jurisdictions”.

These workshop participants were mostly talking from a broker’s point of view, but this integration will also have obvious benefits for listing businesses, which will gain access to a larger base of investors.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801694522-ADNFCR
