West Africa: Dakar welcomes the 5th edition of the Mobile banking Regional Fair
The interbank electronic banking group of the Economic and Monetary Union of West Africa (GIM-UEMOA) announced the organization of the Mobile Banking Regional Fair (Salon Monétique Régional).The Fair, held every two years, will take place this year at the King Fahd Palace in Dakar, Senegal, on July 14th & 15th.
The central theme will be "The Mobile Money and Mobile Banking, as vectors of financial inclusion & banking in Africa: challenges and prospects".
The GIM-UEMOA brings together eighty banks in eight countries (Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory-Coast, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Togo and Benin) representing a population of 80 million.
Since its first edition in 2008, the fair became an ideal framework for debates between decision makers and professionals from banking businesses in West Africa. This 2016 edition will be chaired by, Tiemoko Meyliet Koné, Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).
Many actors related to electronic banking and information and communications technology will be represented, such as Finacards, Ingenico Group, Union Countries who have already declared themselves as event partners.
