UT Bank has announced that plans to introduce Visa cards in Ghana "are far advanced", the bank's CEO Prince Kofi Amoabeng has revealed on Tuesday (April 23rd).

He explained that UT was building on its IT distribution platform to provide customers with greater choice and confidence. He also added that the bank would open four new branches in the last quarter of this year, The Chronicle reports.

This announcement comes a few weeks after the announcement that bank customers will soon be able to use their ATM cards to shop anywhere in Ghana.

The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement System (GHIPSS) said the new move is part of an effort to ensure people use less cash in transacting businesses in the country.

By the end of March 2013, customers will be able to make payments with their ATM cards through point-of-sale devices deployed across Ghana.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801577603-ADNFCR
