Tunisia hosts workshop to promote the benefits of insurance to exporting companies
Noting that many Tunisian exporting companies are not covered by insurance, the Middle East and African Exporters Association (MAEX) recently held an information day on insurance and export financing. The organisers explained that exporting firms face several problems in their international transactions, particularly related to natural disasters and changes in the legislation of the host country, La Presse newspaper reports.
Exporters are therefore often required to cover production costs and expenses, due to a lack of adequate coverage.
The purpose of this day is thus for businesses to learn the benefits of insurance in a bid improve the penetration of the sector and stimulate the development of export companies.
Nebgha Driss, business manager at the Tunisian Company for Foreign Trade Insurance (Cotunace),
has presented an export comprehensive insurance (CAMEX)
designed for small and medium-sized businesses that provides "end to end" coverage, before and after shipment.
Professional liability insurance also facilitates access to finance for businesses, as adequate coverage can act as a guarantee for commercial banks.
