In Tanzania, The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has modernised its automated teller machines (ATMs) in several branches. They will now include deposit taking facilities.

The deposit taking ATMs were launched last week-end in Dar es Salaam by NBC Bank ATM Manager John Wambura. Customers witnessing a demonstration of the new service were very impressed by the innovation.

"The introduction of these ATMs will ensure that our customers enjoy the convenience of being able to deposit cash into their accounts through our network of deposit taking ATMs. (…) The deposit taking ATMs are fast, easy, convenient and real time," said Mr Raymond Mutagahywa, NBC's Head Digital and Alternative Channels.

These ATMs will accept deposits up to 1.5 million shillings (860 US dollars), he explained.

Neema Munisi, the NBC Mlimani City Branch accountant, pointed out the convenience aspect of the service, which allows deposits outside normal branch working hours.

The new service will be available at Kariakoo, Kinondoni, Mlimani City and Corporate Branches in Dar es Salaam region.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801768089-ADNFCR
