Many commercial banks in Rwanda want to introduce new technology that will enable them to reduce operating costs and launch electronic financial solutions.

Created by CR2 and called BankWorld, the solution will allow financial firms to roll out SMS and mobile banking services on a single platform, the New Times reports.

This will enable them to better support the country's unbanked population and encourage more people to embrace financial products.

Marketing and PR Manager at CR2 Nadia Benaissa said: "BankWorld enables lenders to design new products, services and screens, provide a personalised offering to customers, cross-sell and up-sell products to the right customer at the right time and right channel."

Head of Product Development at the firm Keith Holmes added that mobile banking is revolutionising the sector in Rwanda.

One of the nation's financial institutions that is embracing the move towards electronic banking solutions is Banque Populaire du Rwanda, as it recently launched a campaign encouraging more people to use these services to reduce queues in its branches, the New Times stated.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801350221-ADNFCR
