Rwanda is among the countries getting behind Global Entrepreneurship Week, which commences today all over the world.

According to Philbert Nsengimana, the country's youth and ICT minister, the week should partly focus on how young Rwandans can save money with a view to setting up their own venture, the Rwanda Focus reports.

He has suggested setting up a youth savings fund, which could be accessed when members come with "bright business ideas".

This, he said, could enable Rwanda to build on its growing status as a country that is "famous for initiating successful homegrown approaches".

Mr Nsengimana believes a minimum of 4.2 million young people could sign up for the youth savings fund and contribute a minimum monthly sum of 50 francs.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is being marked in 126 countries across the globe and recognises the work of successful business start-ups, as well as aims to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
