He told Bloomberg the government is also deciding whether to make the maturity on next month’s Rwandan franc issuance seven years, the longest yet, adding that Rwanda may issue franc debt with maturities as long as 20 years.
Gross domestic product will probably grow more than six
this year and exceed seven per cent in 2015, he said.
President Paul Kagame revealed in August the country may sell as much as $1 billion (€785.5 million) in its second international offer.
In 2013, Rwanda's debut bond on international markets was a resounding success, as investors oversubscribed the offer 7.5 times.
The East African nation’s economy is set to grow faster than the regional average.
Rwanda has had an average growth rate of 8.2
between 2006 and 2012, and it should reach 7.5 per cent in 2014, according to IMF estimates.
