The Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (PTA Bank) is planning to expand its operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Officials from the sub-regional development bank met the country's economic leaders at the Ministry of Finance in Kinshasa on March 15th, Radio Okapi reports.

PTA Bank provides guarantees as well as short, medium and long-term loans, with an emphasis on start-ups and projects with a strong regional and economic potential.

Operating in eighteen African countries, it plans to open an office in the DRC within two years.
The institution aims to promote rapid private sector development through increased trade and project financing and through the attraction of external capital inflows.

It also aims to foster increased regional economic integration through trade and investments and to promote the development and deepening of local and regional financial markets.
