Congolese mobile payment service Pata Express will soon offer users the chance to pay their utility bills and invoices via mobile phone, Alain Ndalla, Director at Pata Express, told Balancing Act.

Pata Express started operating in Congo a year ago and now has several thousand customers.

The company signed numerous partnerships with banking and microfinance institutions, which offer this service to their clients.

These arrangements have allowed the business "to benefit from the client base of these institutions and their branches throughout the country", explained Mr Ndalla.

He added that in return, Pata Express offers local microfinance branches a 'real time' accounting system.

The enterprise is the only mobile banking services provider in Congo. However, mobile operator MTN will launch its own service called MTN-Money in November, in partnership with Ecobank, the news source reports.

Already available in Benin, Ghana and Ivory Coast, this service will allow all MTN users to open an account, as well as transfer, deposit and withdraw money.ADNFCR-2976-ID-800759065-ADNFCR
