A new
mobile phone-based
international money transfer service
has just been unveiled in West Africa.

"Orange Money Transfer International" is now available in Mali, Senegal and Ivory Coast.

The new service allows a client from Ivory Coast to send money to his family or his suppliers in Mali or Senegal, directly on their Orange Money account.

"Every year, €200 million transit between the three countries as a stream of remittances,"
said
Orange in a statement, adding that it is the first service of its kind in Africa.

According to the newspaper Jeune Afrique, Orange aims to extend this service to other countries where the group is present on the continent.

This new service is expected to strengthen the integration of the UEMOA zone and improve access to financial services in the region, where only eight percent of the population owns a bank account.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801612685-ADNFCR
