NIC Bank has announced the launch of a new mobile banking application in Kenya, that will enable customers
to
enjoy speedier transactions on handheld devices, according to the bank.

The NIC NOW App delivers both banking services and lifestyle information on mobile devices and is available for all NIC Customers with Android, IOS, and Blackberry.

"The increase in smartphone usage has prompted NIC Bank to move towards the provision of an application that is not dependent on their mobile service provider. The concept of convenience banking has since shifted from the physical branches to the mobile phone, which is now an integral part of our lives," said Group MD John Gachora, quoted by CIO East Africa.

NIC says clients can use the app to access account balances, make M-pesa payments, as well as bill payments.

This launch comes a week after Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) launched the mobile banking app M-Benki in Kenya, in partnership with Safaricom’s M-Pesa.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801652423-ADNFCR
