New mobile payment service launched in Tunisia

A new m-wallet service called Mdinar was launched in Tunisia, marking the beginning of the mobile payment market in North Africa.

Launched by Banque Internationale Arabe de Tunisie (BIAT), in partnership with mobile phone operator Tunisiana, microfinance institution ENDA and service provider Viamobile, the service will allow users to process universal payments through their mobile phones, in a secure and reliable way.
“Simple, innovative and accessible, Mdinar can be easily integrated into all mobile phones. Mdinar is a new technology that will improve the quality of the banking services offered to the customers,” remarked Slaheddine Lâajimi, CEO of BIAT.
