The International Conference on Islamic finance is currently being held in Morocco on the subject of "Islamic Finance: Myths, realities and international best practices."

Ten countries are present, both among the speakers and the audience.

The purpose of the conference is to develop best practices in Islamic finance, to asses the current state of the industry and discuss how to best develop new products, said the Xinhua agency.

This conference follows a similar one that was held in Casablanca last November, gathering key actors in the sector: stakeholders, insurers, bankers and experts, from countries such as Tunisia, Malaysia and Bahrain, reported Ajib.fr.

While the financial crisis is affecting most financial markets, Islamic finance, whose goal is to find ways to combine finance and Islamic law, is doing relatively well, albeit still representing a limited share of the global industry.

To overcome these limits, many Islamic countries regularly organize conferences on the subject.

Earlier this December, a conference on Tunisian Islamic finance suggested a concerted effort of scientists and intellectuals of the country to educate new executives about Islamic finance.
