The operator MTN Côte d'Ivoire officially launched on Friday a mobile money transfer service to Benin.

The operator MTN Côte d'Ivoire officially launched on Friday a mobile money transfer service to Benin.

Customers of the operator in Ivory Coast may send up to CFAF500 000 (€762) via their mobile phone to Benin and vice versa.

According to sales and marketing director Jean Michel Chanut, the choice of Benin is explained by the size
of
its community in Ivory Coast, Fraternité Matin reports.

This launch in Benin comes after the launch of a similar service to Burkina Faso by MTN, with 30,000 transactions registered in October.

Ivorian Minister of Economy and Finance Kaba Nialé insisted last April that
there is a
need to "remove the constraints" that block regional integration in the WAEMU area.

She believes the solutions lie in developing and interconnecting, roads, energy and telecommunications infrastructure, promoting small and medium-sized business and developing the financial sector.

She said at a WAEMU conference that Ivory Coast will focus on regional integration for sustainable growth.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801764192-ADNFCR
