Dear friends and colleagues,

With COVID-19 continuing to affect the lives of billions around the world and disrupting life as we know it; we, MFW4A, are doing our best to ensure the safety of our staff, while continuing to carry out our mandate and with minimum disruption.

Our team is now working remotely, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.  We are leveraging our digital platform to deliver webinars, virtual meetings and to share data and information on the African financial sector via our website, Press Digest and Newsletter.

Together with our partners, we are exploring new ways to deliver on our work plan and maintain our competitive edge during these uncertain times. We are working on various virtual events focusing on thematics such as capital markets, digital finance, banking stability and trade contribute to the conversation on the impact of current events on the African financial sector. On this subject, we are planning a webinar on COVID-19 and its impact of the African financial sector in mid-April. The exact date will be communicated soon.

We are also increasing support to our members by providing tailored research and using our large network to further the disseminate their work and priorities. A series of webinars in French and English is also planned based on EIB’s Annual Banking Sub Saharan Survey in which MFW4A contributed. This report focuses on recent developments in Africa’s banking sectors and the policy options for all stakeholders. It also addresses challenges and opportunities for financing investment in Africa. Furthermore, we have recently launched our first Call for Essays to foster a better understanding of the issues challenging financial sector development in Africa and to gather thoughts, opinions and innovative ideas on how to develop the sector.
