MasterCard believes that this partnership will strengthen financial inclusion in the country.

MasterCard and micro-credit provider Enda inter-arabe have concluded a partnership last week to offer payment solutions in Tunisia through the use of prepaid cards.

The American payment systems giant said in a statement seen by Jeune Afrique that this partnership aims at "strengthening financial inclusion in the country through the creation of mobile payment solutions through prepaid payment cards."

"Two billion people are still excluded from the formal financial sector and it is through such partnerships that we can exploit our technology to expand financial inclusion," said Faisal Khdiri, MasterCard's regional director for North, West and Central Africa.

The cards allow recipients to withdraw cash through ATMs and pay bills at point of sale terminals. Users can also transfer funds and make certain types of repayment.

Enda Inter-arab launched in 2013 a mobile banking service, initially designed for the repayment of credit instalments.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801786974-ADNFCR
