Madagascar: Credit increase at BNI bank
BNI Madagascar Bank announced on July 13th that it registered an important increase in the number of consumer, mortgage and leasing credits."Between 2009 and 2010, we have witnessed an increase of 40 per cent in the volume of credits granted to consumers and professionals," said an official at the Department of Communication during a press conference, quoted by Midi Madagascar newspaper.
As a result of this success, the bank is currently launching a new PR campaign on the benefits of its credit offering.
The bank's management team explained during the press conference that this new initiative would allow BNI to strengthen its commitment to meeting the financial needs of its clientele and providing support every step of the way.
This credit offering is expected to bring diversity to the island, with the arrival of a new banking group, the French BPCE, Jeune Afrique newspaper reports.
BPCE has taken control of a Madagascar bank - la Banque Malgache de l'Océan Indien - which recorded a turnover of €20 million and made a profit of €9 million last year.
