A few months after entering the Post Office branches, mobile banking service Airtel Money keeps on expanding and is now available at Microcred branches.

An agreement was signed by both parties on Wednesday (April 24th) for the implementation of the service in 20 branches of the bank.

"Airtel Money has become a very popular money transfer tool in Madagascar, if one refers to the significant increase in the volume of transfers and withdrawals recorded. Moreover, we actively participate in increasing access to banking services to a segment of the population previously excluded from the financial system," Airtel CEO Heikko Schlitké told L'Express de Madagascar.

Malagasy people can now make payments, deposit and withdraw money through employees of Microcred or Malagasy Post, who have received special training on these services.

This initiative should facilitate access to banking services for Malagasy people, particularly in rural areas, where people sometimes have difficulties accessing bank branches.
