Cote d' Ivoire's relationship with Ghana needs to strengthen if the country is to continue its economic development.

Speaking ahead of Cote d' Ivoire's 50th anniversary of independence on August 7th, the nation's Ambassador to Ghana Emmanuel Auguste Ackah praised Ghana's role in supporting his nation, but called for further progress to be made, Modern Ghana reports. He said the two countries are "duty bound" to "work hand in hand to boost [their] economies and promote sub-regional integration by serving as role models".

The African Development Bank has its headquarters in Abidjan and it is due to hold its annual meeting in what is the country's largest city on May 27th and 28th.

Cote d' Ivoire borders Ghana to the west and Vice-President of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce Seth Adjei-Baah added increased trading between the two nations will help them "retain money in [their] respective countries for accelerated development".
