Forum to discuss banking in Angola

A forum to discuss banking in Angola is to take place on June 22nd.

It has been organised by newspapers Expansao and Economico and will discuss financial progression at both a national and international level, Angop press agency reports.

Sponsored by Millennium Bank and trade association BESA, the event will go on to cover the future of the Angolan banking industry and the tendencies of the World Bank.

Likewise, consulting firm Accenture is involved in funding the meeting, as it works closely with the country's authorities within markets such as banking and insurance.

Also on the agenda at the forum will be the financial sustainability of Angola, IT within the sector, consolidation and competitiveness.

This news comes after officials in the country called for changes to current microfinance offerings.

Deputy Governor of the Central Benguela Province Agostinho Felizardo said commercial banks must do more to provide micro-credit to communities, the news provider stated.
