Ecobank to support Congolese SMEs

Jan 23, 2015

The Pan-African group has partnered with IFC.

The Managing Director of Ecobank-Congo, Lazare Noulekou, said that his institution is ready to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Congo.

He said Ecobank has recently signed a cooperation agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to increase access to credit for Congolese SMEs.

The head of the bank met this week with the Congolese SME Minister, Yvonne Adelaide Mougany, to explain the mechanisms of the project, newspaper Les Dépêches de Brazzaville reports.

Noulekou expects this agreement will create a new dynamic and will increase the bank's ability to finance Congolese businesses, particularly in relation to the granting of loans to cattle farmers.

Under the partnership, the bank also wants to grant credit to entrepreneurs wishing to acquire technical equipment to develop their activities.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801771621-ADNFCR
