Ecobank Liberia has implemented a new banking system that will boost access to finance for citizens in the country.

The firm has rolled out Oracle FSS's Flexcube Core Banking System and Managing Director of the Bank Kola Adeleke explained the technology, which replaces the Globus system that was previously in use, will improve services for customers, AllAfrica reports.

"It seeks to provide its customers with convenient and reliable banking and financial products and services both locally and regionally," Mr Adeleke remarked, adding the technology will help Ecobank with its aim to become "a world-class pan-African bank".

Ecobank Group began implementing Flexcube across its operations in Africa last month, along with MPLS, a new private telecommunications infrastructure.

Executive for Operations and Technology Eddy Ogbogu said at the start of August that 22 countries have been upgraded so far and the firm aims to have made the changes to its operations in all 35 nations where it has a presence by the end of 2011.ADNFCR-2976-ID-800716480-ADNFCR
