DTB introduces cardless withdrawal service

Jun 24, 2010

Users of the M-Pesa mobile banking service can now withdraw funds from Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) ATMs as a result of a new deal between the bank, Pesapoint and Safaricom.

The service - which makes it possible to obtain funds from the machines without the need for a card - will be available at 29 outlets across Kenya. Users will also be able to purchase airtime for the handsets. Head of M-Pesa Pauline Vaughn was quoted by Daily Nation as saying at the launch yesterday (June 23rd) that the offering "will provide convenience, privacy, security and most importantly cash to our customers". She added the move by DTB is part of its effort to increase the range of services it offers across East Africa.

Currently, the bank - which has been operating in East Africa for over six decades - has 46 branches in the region, with the aim of expanding to 100 over the next three years.
