Delegates have begun arriving in the Cote d'Ivoire ahead of the African Development Bank's (AfDB) Annual Meetings next week.

The event will take place in Abidjan on May 27th and 28th and over 1,500 participants are expected to attend, including many government leaders and heads of state.

Governors from the 77 members of the AfDB will be present to discuss electing a new President of the bank, the approval of its General Capital Increase and the latest replenishment of the African Development Fund, all of which are at the top of the agenda.

"The Annual Meetings are statutory occasions for the governors to review the Bank Group's administrative, financial and operational activities in the past financial year and provide guidance on its future operations," the AfDB said in a statement.

It recently hosted a meeting in Nigeria to discuss the launch of the Equity and Guarantee Fund for Agriculture and Agribusiness in Africa, a $1.2 billion (€810 million) scheme that will fund the African Agribusiness and Agro-industries Development Initiative.
