Burkina Faso issues new bond
The government will issue CFAF40 billion on the regional market.Burkina Faso is to issue a CFAF40 billion (€61 million) bond on the market of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
The deadline for submission of tenders is October 20th, 2015, with a final maturity reached on April 19, 2016, newspaper Lejecos reports.
The country launched in November 2014 CFAF55 billion worth of bonds to finance public projects planned under the Strategy for Accelerated Growth and Sustainable Development (SCADD).
It has also issued on October 2013 CFAF55 billion worth of bonds, also under the SCADD.
The resources mobilised through these subscriptions will be used to "finance projects promoting growth and economic and social development," said the Treasury of Burkina Faso in a statement.
As of July 24th, 2015, a total of CFAF1500 billion were mobilised through bonds in the WAEMU region, according to the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).
