The Regional Securities Exchange SA (BRVM) has reached a "historic" peak of Cfaf6000 billion (€ 9.1 billion) after a week marked by high-performances between January 20th and 24th 2014.

"The market capitalization of the BRVM stock exchange stood at CFAF6 024 410 000 000 on January 29, 2014, an increase of 6.94 percent since the beginning of the year, representing a gain of Cfaf390 940 000 000," the institution said in a statement.

The BRVM believes that this performance reflects "investors' confidence in the economic prospects of the Economic and Monetary Union of West Africa (WAEMU), but also in the health of companies listed on the BRVM."

According to the newspaper Jeune Afrique, the Stock Exchange expects eight or nine introductions for 2014, including multinationals and regional groups.

It relies in particular on the stock introduction of Senegalese companies Matforce and Money Express, as well as Azalaï hotel group and several Ivorian banks.ADNFCR-2976-ID-801688592-ADNFCR
