West Africa Monitor Issue 1

This issue presents key socio-economic developments in West Africa, and provides a brief analysis on the latest events across 8 countries, namely Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Senegal and Sierra Leone. This present issue features a note on the financial sector in West Africa, which was produced in collaboration with Making Finance Work for Africa (MFW4A). The note takes a look at the state of financial inclusion in the West Africa sub-region, and it draws predominantly from 2011 data available at the Global Findex Database of the G-20 Basic Set of Financial Inclusion Indicators.
