Seychelles National Payment System Vision and Strategy 2016 to 2020

In late 2008, Seychelles embarked on a macro-economic reform programme that provided the platform for a fundamental change in the country’s economy and the establishment of a modern payment system. In the course of the modernisation process, the first National Payment System Framework and Strategy document was adopted in 2009. The document had as its main objective to outline the essential characteristics of Seychelles’ NPS, reflecting the policy choices for the country’s payment system. This was the first “blue print” upon which the payment system modernisation projects were initiated. This NPS Vision and Strategy 2020 seeks to focus on strategies that remained unfulfilled from the previous strategy, which are still relevant, as well as to provide strategic direction for payment systems development in Seychelles for the period of 2016 to 2020.
