This paper examines the challenges and successes faced by MFIs that provide insurance to low-income persons and microenterprises, with a focus on evolution of products, range of institutional options, and improving business processes. The paper states that MFIs can be effective channels through which insurance can be distributed to the poor. Finally, it describes the experiences of MFIs that have enhanced their microinsurance products and processes to improve client value.
