This paper revisits the issue of systemic risk of MFIs. The paper provides a stylized description of global trends in microfinance before and after the global financial crisis of 2007-08, presents an empirical analysis of lending rates and spreads and assesses whether the absolute systemic risk of microfinance has increased during the last few years and whether there are differences in the relative systemic risk of alternative MFI groupings.
