Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) Botswana: Financial Sector Assessment

This paper evaluates the current state of the financial sector and its developmental needs in Botswana. The paper is focused on five areas: (i) systemic liquidity and the macro-financial framework; (ii) financial system stability and its resilience to shocks; (iii) the regulatory and supervisory framework for banks, pension funds, insurance companies, and other NBFIs; (iv) progress in meeting international standards in banking supervision, transparency of monetary and financial policies, payment systems, and anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML-CFT); and (v) access to and affordability of financial services.
