Competition and Efficiency in Banking: Behavioral Evidence from Ghana

Jan 01, 2005 | T. Buch, J. Mathisen | IMF
This paper assesses and discusses the degree of competition and efficiency of the Ghanaian banking sector. By applying panel data to variables derived from a theoretical model, it finds evidence for a non-competitive market structure in the Ghanaian banking system, which may be hampering financial intermediation.
