Agricultural Marketing Companies as Sources of Smallholder Credit in Eastern and Southern Africa: Experiences, Insights and Potential Donor Role

This report shows that credit under contract farming arrangements is the major form of access to production finance amongst smallholders. Rather more unexpectedly, it concludes that these credits are not necessarily exploitative and that farmers who access them definitely derive concrete benefits.
