Africa Economic Brief - SMEs and trade finance in Africa - Volume 12 | Issue 11

This  policy  brief  provides  an  overview  of  the  trade  finance  landscape for SMEs in Africa. It focuses on the importance of trade finance for such enterprises and the key challenges they face in accessing bank-intermediated trade finance. It then discusses the role that development finance institutions (DFIs)  play  in  trade  finance  intermediation  aimed  at  SMEs  and makes recommendations to bolster access to trade fi-nance for SMEs in Africa.
