MFW4A and NFNV look to establish a new thematic working group focused on gender finance

YAMOUSSOUKRO, July 21, 2015 - Policy makers and international leaders from across the globe gathered in Yamoussoukro on 22 July
to discuss financial inclusion policy solutions for women in Africa. The high-level event was organised by the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) and the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). In the margins of the event, Making Finance Work for Africa Secretariat (MFW4A) and New Faces, New Voices (NFNV) organised a side-meeting under the theme "Women: A Transformative Force for African Finance" on 21
July. The session provided an opportunity to discuss the establishment of a Gender Finance Working Group that will bring together African policy makers, the private sector and development partners to foster collaboration, promote information exchange and enhance coordination of interventions at the policy and institutional levels. Participants at the meeting provided valuable insights regarding setting up
the platform that is centred towards promoting coherent and comprehensive policy development and coordination to tackle the challenges women face in accessing finance. It was recommended that MFW4A explore areas of collaboration with AFI and that it
continues its efforts in establishing the working group.
