Visa, Atlas Mara partner to promote cashless transactions in Africa

The partnership will offer a suite of digital and mobile solutions across Africa.

Visa Inc. and Atlas Mara have signed partnership enabling cashless transactions for bank customers across Africa. In the partnership, Atlas Mara will introduce Visa's payment platforms (mVisa and Visa Direct) to its customers. The payment platforms carry features that promote cashless transactions; these include payment for goods or services and sending of funds via mobile phones, transfer of funds over computers, and bank branches and ATMs across Africa. Visa through its Sub-Saharan Africa Group Country Manager, Andrew Torre, described the new partnership with Atlas Mara as transformational for commerce, mobile payments and financial inclusion across Africa. Responding to the development, Atlas Mara Chief Digital Officer, Chidi Okpala, said "delivering innovative services to accelerate financial inclusion and to
service our customers is one of our core strategies. Through our partnership with Visa, Atlas Mara will be able to offer a suite of digital and mobile payment solutions for the everyday payments needs of our expanding customer base across Africa."
