African Private equity funds raised $2.4 billion during H1, 2018
During H1, 2018, private equity funds operating in Africa raised $2.4 billion, a status report published by the African private equity and venture capital association (AVCA) reveals.The same source informs that 60% of these funds were raised thanks to investments instruments dedicated to the infrastructure sector. During the period under review, $1.7 billion of the above-mentioned fund were raised in the framework of interim closing and $400 million during final closing.
The report also informs that the total value of private equity transactions recorded during H1, 2018 reached $900 million. 75% of these transactions were realized in the infrastructure & utility, financial and manufacturing sector. The infrastructure and utility sectors concentrated 37% of the deals within the said period while a year earlier, it was 3%. Following the same trend, investments in the financial sector reached 16% of the total investments against 10% during the same period a year earlier.
