MFW4A sponsored the 2019 Afreximbank Factoring Workshop held in Durban, South Africa

MFW4A under its Trade Finance Initiative (TFI) sponsored the Afreximbank’s Factoring workshop on 07 November 2019 in Durban, South Africa with the aim of building the capacities of beneficiary factoring firms to finance African corporates, in particular SMEs.
 
Factoring can be instrumental to unleash more finance for African SMEs by supporting trade (domestic, regional and international trade) and addressing the trade finance gap. The sponsorship availed from the MFW4A TFI’s budget funded by the GIZ allowed more than 100 participants to enhance their knowledge about critical aspects of factoring today and in the future.
 
Furthermore, MFW4A also joined the 5th Afreximbank Compliance Forum from 06th-07th November on the theme: “Empowering Compliance: The central role of a Compliance Officer”. The role of compliance professionals is set to become more pivotal to financial institutions involved in trade finance and rewarding in the years ahead.
 
MFW4A has taken steps to build the capacity of compliance officers of local banks in Africa and is eager to foster collaboration with Afreximbank in promoting compliance best practices in Africa. Read more in the event press release and access the event video report.
