Regional Forum for East and Southern Africa capital owners

The AIFAM Regional Forum convenes East and Southern Africa capital owners (Pension and Provident Funds, Social Security Funds, Sovereign Funds, Insurers, Central Banks, DFI's Etc.), Fund Managers, and Investment Professionals to meet with institutional investors and other stakeholders who are interested in opportunities on the continent. The objectives of the forum are to:
  • Explore and identify what it would take to make significant advances in understanding integration and implementation of global and country specific best practices in the management, implementation and investment of pensions, retirement and social security funds;
  • Bring together leaders from various sectors to discuss legal, regulatory and framework, fund investment strategies, environmental, social governance (ESG) consideration, fiduciary and other contemporary issues impacting the African pension fund industry; and
  • Focus on long-term strategic collaboration with active stakeholders in Africa and other regions to advance developments in the industry. Incorporate input and evaluate practical case studies from international and indigenous market, with the aim of bench-marking on developments, opportunities and challenges.
Panel sessions will include, amongst others:
  • Shareholder Interest and Good Corporate Governance;
  • Role of Regulatory Authorities and Pension Fund Providers in Driving Forward Pension Changes in Africa;
  • Private Equity in Africa - A comparison of opportunities, risk and returns with other markets; and
  • Digging Deep - Spotlight on Africa alternative investment trends.
