AfDB Digital Finance Week

The event, hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB)'s Financial Inclusion Division, in partnership with Making Finance Work For Africa (MFW4A), will provide a series of workshops to raise awareness on digital financial services and the impact of their promotion on the Bank's financial inclusion strategy. The aim is to sensitize, raise awareness and build capacity within the Bank on issues and challenges related to digital financial inclusion. These series of workshops will provide basic understanding of the regulation and policy principles around electronic money, its various forms and its implication on developing economies. They will provide a platform to discuss the most recent trends, innovations and opportunities in the field of digital finance globally and specifically on the various ways technology can enhance access to agriculture, energy, education and other financial services (credit, savings, and insurance services). Sessions and Case studies will include, amongst others:
  • Overview of Digital Finance: Basic and State of Play;
  • Policy and Regulation in Digital Financial Services (DFS);
  • DFS and the Poor: Credit and Insurance;
  • Digital Payments: Going Cash Lite; and
  • Case Studies showcasing DFS Applications.
