African Union (AU)

The African Union (AU) is a Pan-African organization that aims to provide a collective voice for the African continent. The AU succeeded the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 2002. Its goal is to propel a united continent towards peace. It aims to boost development, eradicate poverty and bring Africa into the global economy. Key decisions are made by its Assembly, a semi-annual meeting of the heads of states and governments of the member states. Its secretariat, the African Union Commission is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
