East and Central Africa Social Security Association (ECASSA)

The East and Central African Social Security Association (ECASSA) was created in March 2007. ECASSA aims to provide its members with a mechanism to maintain regular contacts, to share experiences and pool resources to fund capital-intensive programs. ECASSA’s membership is drawn from social security funds of 6 eastern and central African countries.


ECASSA aims to foster cooperation among stakeholders and promote the development of social security through policy influence, strategic information management, training and capacity building.

ECASSA is committed to the following activities:

  • To appraise the impact of social security investments in the socio-economic development of the region.
  • To share experiences and explore the feasibility of introducing Universal Pensions in developing countries.
  • To describe the Decent Work Programme and its applicability to the socio-economic development of a country.
