Wari and Mastercard signed on Wednesday, December 28 a Strategic Alliance that will broaden and enrich the Wari offer for its users. The two financial technology companies want to provide all citizens, regardless of their social category, with access to a platform, that is safer and easier to use, for financial transactions and payments.
Thanks to this agreement with Mastercard, the Wari platform and the MyWari application will offer a wide range of digital solutions such as:
- the integration of the Mastercard money transfer service onto the Wari platform;
- the use of virtual cards, through the MyWari application, to access funds linked to physical cards; and
- The access to the Masterpass QR mobile solution, which allows entrepreneurs to use cheaper electronic payment solutions.
All these digital payment solutions will be accompagnied by the issuance of debit and credit Mastercards, secured by EMV chips and a PIN, which are accepted through out the world.Commenting on the agreement, Daniel Monehin, President of the Sub-Saharan Africa Division at Mastercard, said: "Our partnership with Wari illustrates the evolution of the payments industry and confirms that Africa is at the forefront of the transition to digital payments".
