BPCE to launch an e-bank in Algeria

The French group Banque populaire Caisse d'épargne (BPCE) is preparing to launch a digital bank, in Algeria, via its subsidiary Natixis Algeria. The information was given last April 6 on cBanque.

This new bank will be elaborated on the model of Fidor Bank, bought in July 2016 by the French group. It will namely include a mobile banking service and a community platform on which Internet users can discuss their different banking issues. According to information collected by cBanque, BCPE’s mobile bank in Algeria should allow account opening via video conference. But, only current account could be opened like that; not savings or credit accounts.

Let’s note that Natixis Algeria, which began operations in 1999, has 28 branches and 750 employees. It offers a wide range of financial products and services to large companies, SMEs, professionals and individuals.
