30th IUHF World Congress

25.06.2017 - 27.06.2017, Washington D.C., USA

Global Opportunities in Housing Finance?

This event aims to provide an opportunity for participants to learn about the different models and common challenges facing housing finance professionals around the world. It also aims to provide networking opportunities with housing finance leaders from government, the industry, NGOs and other entities.

Mortgage debt, like any other type of debt, also serves as an investment vehicle. Although national institutional factors remain important and a variety of housing finance institutions prevails, the integration of housing finance markets into global financial markets is occurring throughout the world. However, the markets in some countries have shown more volatility than others.

The Congress sessions will discuss these differences as well as the opportunities and risks of investing in mortgage debt, including cross-border investments. Funding alternatives to international finance capital will also be explored. Sessions will include amongst others:

  • Regional developments in housing finance and the economy;
  • The housing finance debate in the United States: an update;
  • Savings schemes to finance housing; and
  • Making mortgage finance work for Asia and Africa.
